The Countdown to 2023: Tidy Space, Tidy Mind

I don't know about you but any time my work space or my home space is cluttered, messy or dirty, I cannot focus on anything else. It is always on my mind. "I need to do laundry, I need to clean the kitchen, I need to tidy my room, I have to declutter the closet". These are some of the thoughts that go through my mind when I have a mess around me. If I am working on a business project, plus having to worry about how messy my house is, I get so overwhelmed. The only thing that will help me is to dedicate one day of the week to deep cleaning the house. Usually I like to clean on the weekends, this way I can start the week off with a tidy space and focus on what is important during the week. Sometimes I have plans during the weekend, or I am ill. When that happens I like to clean on one of the weekdays. I have the priviledge of working from home on my own business so I can clean whenever I want to. I can take a break from my business and tidy up for a couple of hrs. I can throw a load of laundry in the wash. I know a lot of people have to actually go in to work, which is what I used to do when I worked retail. I was always so tired from work and I had sporradic days off (like a Sunday and a Wednesday). I would usually pick one of those days to clean (at least for half the day). It always made me feel better. I defintiely understand feeling tired or not having the time to clean or the energy! My next step can help with that! Another thing I started doing (not always, because life happens) but I try to do it as often as I can. Is to do a power hour of cleaning per day. I usually time myself and in that time I focus on the things that bother me the most and are more of my daily to dos. Things like doing the dishes, doing a load of laundry, vacuuming, making my bed, dusting. I usually pick one bigger task to do during that hour and other smaller ones. For example I would dust in all of the bedrooms and the living room and then clean up everything around, especailly in the kitchen. Another day I would clean the bathroom. It all depends on what is bothering me the most or is in more need of cleaning that day. The main thing is to not go over your hour or whatever time you dedicated to cleaning for that day. It can even be 30 min! How awesome is this WEEKLY CLEANING SCHEDULE I found on Pinterest by FREEBIE FINDING MOM There are so many useful tips on Pinterest!
My plan going into the New Year is to continue my power hour of cleaning per day but also add another one day a week where I declutter one area of my house. Things that have been bugging me like bedroom draweres, closets, kitchen draweres, office spaces. I will start doing one small section a week and hopefully in the end I end up with a little less clutter around me. Having a clutter free home helps with my mental health, anxiety and more. If you are OCD like me you definitely understadn where I am coming from. Let me know in the comments below, are you a neat freak or not? Does clutter bother you, does it clutter your mind as well? Do you have any tips or tricks of your own that help you stay organized and on top of it all? I would love to hear it! Let's enter the New Year as free of clutter as we can possibly be in this moment and continue our clutter free journey into the new year :)
