New Year...Update! COVID, work, life and more...

Oh my goodness! We made it out of the year 2020! I am so happy that we can leave that year behind us and hopefully move on to something a little better...At least that is what we all hope.

New year doesn’t necessarily mean better things will happen. Usually I am excited for a new year. New possibilities, new beginnings and new goals and hopes; but I do feel like going through 2020 kind of put a damper on the expectations I have for this new year.

At the beginning of last year I created a Vision Board that I was so excited about! You can read about it HERE. There were so many things I was looking forward to accomplishing in the year 2020...then COVID happened. It really stopped us all in our tracks and set us all back a step. We all had to slow down, stay home, stay safe and most importantly stay healthy. Our main mission was to not get sick, to not catch COVID. So many souls have been lost too early because of this horrible virus, so many families struggled physically but also financially. This wasn’t the year of getting ahead and fulfilling my vision board. This was the year of surviving. At least that is how it felt for me.

I work in retail and my job closed down for a month back at the end of March 2020. Our state went into lockdown. I started a TikTok account that I really enjoy, and I also did a whole lot of nothing during that time. I didn’t  really appreciate it at the moment, but that was probably the best part of the year. I hadn’t stayed home for that long in years! I’ve had the occasional one week vacation here and there but not a whole month off. I really do miss that time. It was quiet and understated.

After that month off, our state started to re open so I went back to work. That was at the end of April and I have been back at work ever since. Our state never went back into lockdown even though cases are higher than ever and hospitals are getting full. Every day I go into work is another day I could possibly get COVID. Same with most of my family. They are all working in places where they have to deal with people who have the virus or could possibly have it.

There is now a vaccine but only certain groups of people can take it and even they are not getting them fast enough. Parts of the world has gone back into lockdown, like the UK but here in the US, I feel like we are taking it a little too lightly.

All of this has definitely played an important role in peoples overall mental health. Many are anxious, many are depressed and there is no shame in that. We all have the right to feel that way but we just have to make sure that we are also finding joy in the little things, to make sure that we will make it through. There is a light at the end of the tunnel and we will get there together!

As for my vision board, it is still in place for years to come. I am not putting too much pressure on myself but I am working on it at my own pace.

Some things have already started happening. My sister and I have started our own little shop called ADELORE CREATIONS and we are so excited to grow it this year. We have a lot of plans for is. It is hard work because we are both working hard, long hours at our full time jobs but I know that we will turn this business into something great.

Secondly, I really want to continue blogging as much as I can about life but also about the things that take our minds off of the current events every once in awhile. Things like fashion, beauty, style and gossip!

So keep an eye out on this blog for some more content as well as my Youtube channel (you can find it at the top of this page)!

I really do hope that this new year will be kinder to us than the previous one and that is all I am expecting. I hope we see less suffering and more happiness and that that light at the end of the tunnel gets brighter and brighter every day.
